Anyone interested in buying the Rocket Slide should come to the Owensboro Convention Center Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 10 a.m.
The Rocket Slide will be one of the items auctioned off at the City of Owensboro surplus equipment auction, along with police cruisers, cars, vans, SUV’s, buses, backhoes, mowers, kitchen equipment, computers, and office equipment.
So if you want to keep a nostalgic piece of Owensboro tradition alive in your own backyard, this is your chance.
You’d probably become the most popular person in the neighborhood and the envy of all your friends.
But you’d have to put it back together yourself. All items are sold “as-is, where-is” with no warranties. It also needs to be removed by 5 p.m., according to a flier provided by the city. That would take some manpower – but wouldn’t it be cool?
To much lament, City Parks staff removed the Rocket Slide from Ben Hawes Park in March. But according to how things go tomorrow, it may find a new, loving home.
Good luck to all bidders!
