Owensboro’s summer music scene has always been a defining part of the season — but in 2026, it’s reaching a new level. Much of that growth can be traced to The Eric Group, whose expanded role in booking and production is helping elevate both the scale and consistency of live entertainment across the region. From weekly downtown concerts to major touring acts just a short drive away, their influence is shaping what may be one of the most complete summer lineups Owensboro has ever seen.
At the heart of it all are two familiar staples: Friday After 5 and Live on the Banks — both returning with strong schedules and an even more polished experience.
Friday After 5 returns for 30th anniversary season
Presented by Jagoe Homes, Friday After 5 celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a lineup that blends crowd favorites, tribute acts, and rising artists across two stages along the downtown riverfront.
Each Friday night brings a full evening of music at McConnell Plaza and the Overlook Stage, continuing the tradition of free, high-energy concerts that have defined summers in Owensboro for decades.

City-led celebrations to take center stage
While weekly concerts anchor the calendar, some of the summer’s biggest moments come from large-scale events hosted by the City of Owensboro — combining music, food, and community into can’t-miss experiences.

BBQ & Barrels expands the experience
BBQ & Barrels returns May 8-9 with a familiar mix of barbecue, bourbon, and live music, along with a few additions aimed at rounding out the overall experience. The festival itself is free to attend, but certain attractions require tickets.
Headlining the weekend is country artist Chase Matthew, who will take the main stage on Saturday night for a free concert on the Convention Center front lawn, with limited VIP pit access available for fans wanting an up-close experience.
But the music doesn’t start — or end — there.
The festival kicks off Friday with live performances from Jerrett Davis & Chris Abell, Rack ‘em Leon, and the OCTC Bluegrass Band throughout the day on the Courthouse Lawn stage, before transitioning into a high-energy evening with DJ Shay’s Dance Party on the main stage that evening.
Saturday continues with Red Steel & OHS Jazz Band, Galactic Foghorn, The E.O. Kids, and KROWN on the Courthouse Lawn — regional acts that keep the atmosphere going from morning through the headlining set.
Beyond the music, the event continues to evolve in 2026 with several new additions.

A new artisan craft expo inside the Owensboro Convention Center will feature a range of handmade goods and specialty vendors, adding a shopping component to the festival.
Returning staples include the Backyard Cook-off, where attendees can sample competition-style barbecue, and the 50/50 raffle, which remains a popular draw. The Bourbon Experience returns as well, offering tastings and educational opportunities tied to Kentucky’s distilling tradition.
Organizers are also offering a “BBQ Blueprint,” a curated guide highlighting must-try dishes from vendors and cooking teams across the festival.
City celebrating America 250 with big 4th of July event
Independence Day takes on added meaning in 2026 as part of the nationwide America 250 celebration, and Owensboro is responding with one of its most ambitious 4th of July weekends yet.
The festivities begin July 3 with a full evening of live music as part of Friday After 5, followed by a drone show over the riverfront. Performances include Cynthia & The End Times and Whiskey Row on the main stage, with Last Call on the Overlook Stage.
On July 4 the celebration expands across the city. The Owensboro Convention Center will host 4th Fest, featuring free inflatables, games, and family-friendly activities, while live music continues along the riverfront with performances by Hall Pass and Downtown Band.
The night concludes with what officials say will be the largest fireworks display in Owensboro history, launched from multiple locations across the city, including the downtown riverfront, Southern Little League fields, Moreland Park, and the former GE plant site — creating a show visible from nearly every corner of the community.
There is no cost to attend any of the events.
PorchFest OBKY

Photos by Ryan Richardson
PorchFest returns on June 8 with another diverse lineup, continuing its tradition of turning Griffith Avenue into a walkable, front-porch music experience.
Supported by sponsors including Furniture Warehouse and VASS, the event once again brings together a wide range of local and regional talent across multiple porch stages, with genres spanning country, rock, folk, and funk.
This year’s lineup features a mix of returning favorites and new voices, including Marty Brown Jr., The Green Lights, Flat Stanley, Haleigh Martin, Rack ’Em Leon, Generation Jones, Goldrush, Stella Mabry, Soul N The Pocket, Griffith Avenue, Taylor D. Burden, Annalee Yager, Paul Montgomery, Timothy Baker, Dan Hall, Van Winkle & The Spirits, Kelly & Sarah, Maggie Hollis, Jacob Lawalin, Alex Yevincy, Sara Beth Brewer, Dustin & Tristan, VXO, Emma Grace, Beau Tatum, Joshua Orion, Cam Thompson, No Limits, KROWN, Derailed, The Rubbing Alcoholics, Tailgate, The Bobby Clark Band, Happiness Jones, and Riley Station.

The specific stage lineup and performance schedule are still being finalized, as is a list of vendors and food trucks.
New this year, organizers are working to introduce a festival-wide scavenger hunt, adding an interactive element for attendees as they move from porch to porch throughout the day.
As always, PorchFest is free to attend and built around community participation — with homeowners, musicians, sponsors, and volunteers all contributing to an event that feels equal parts neighborhood gathering and citywide celebration.
