It’s not every day you get to cheer on a local girl at the Miss America Pageant. But tonight was our night as Miss Kentucky Ramsey Carpenter, who grew up right down the road in Hartford, made the final competition and finished in the top 12.
Since becoming Miss Kentucky in July, Carpenter has been one busy woman with her duties representing the Bluegrass State. Now that she had such a great showing tonight at Miss America, she’ll be getting even more opportunities.
As Miss Kentucky, Ramsey chose her platform to be Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, a condition which she was diagnosed with in 2010. She also serves as a spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s “Kentucky Proud” program which encourages consumers to purchase products produced in Kentucky and to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. She delivers this message to all age groups in school visits and other appearances throughout the commonwealth.
This has been – and will continue to be – one amazing year for Carpenter, but when it’s all said and done, Ramsey plans to pursue her Master’s degree in hopes of a becoming a school administrator, special education director, or superintendent. She’ll always be an advocate for Multiple Sclerosis and you better believe she’ll be cheering on the Wildcats.
Congratulations Ramsey! We are all very proud of you.
