For over half a century, PizzAroma has been a tradition when it comes to enjoying great pizza in Owensboro. Building on that tradition, PizzAroma will open its new location at 11am on June 1st in Wesleyan Park Plaza in the former Mirko’s Pasta building. In preparation for the grand opening of the new location, the current west side location (1401 Carter Road) will be closing Sunday and will no longer be open.
Chris Clark, a manager at the east side location (3020 East 4th Street), told Owensboro Living that the Wesleyan Park Plaza location will be serving brunch on Sundays featuring omelets by Chef Gill. The hours at the new store will be 11am-11pm Sunday through Thursday and 11am-Midnight on Friday and Saturday.
[tw-divider]The PizzAroma Story[/tw-divider]
It all started December 15, 1963, when Bob Leucht started PizzAroma in the original location at 221 East 25th Street (now known as JR Miller Blvd). Bob still remembers the two customers who came in opening night. Their names were Tom Day and Bruce Milne. “We are not sure how they found out about PizzAroma’s opening, but we were sure glad to greet them.”
In 1971, PizzAroma moved to 335 East 25th St. next to Colonial Bakery. The owners recall that during Friday night buffets, customers would carve their names into the booths. Many things have changed over the years, but one thing still stands the test of time: That one of a kind, mouth-watering, addictive, cannot-wait-to-get-it PizzAroma taste!
Four generations of the Leucht family have worked in the family business, telling their stories of how they did it their way. Bob, Mary Ann and the entire PizzaAroma family are proud to serve Owensboro for over 50 years, and look forward to many more.
