Daviess County Cooperative Extension office is again sponsoring the “Oh Baby!” Celebration on September 1, 2016, at 5 p.m. at Settle Memorial Church.
The Oh Baby! Celebration is focused on education, information, and resources for parents that are currently expecting, in the process of adoption, or have a new baby (newborn – 6 months). The event is not just for mothers; fathers are encouraged to attend as well. All attendees that register are welcome to bring one guest with them.
The event will include:
- Educational Exhibits
- Prenatal & Newborn Care Tips
- Door Prizes
- Refreshments
- Guest Speakers
“We hope that all attendees will become aware of and connected to community resources available to their families, increase their knowledge about newborn and infant/toddler care as well as prenatal and post-delivery care, and also leave with some great prizes that will be useful in taking care of their new baby,” said Mary Higginbotham, Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences.
This year’s event will focus specifically on the importance of oral healthcare for all ages, safe sleep practices for infants, and car seat safety. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have their infant car seat installed or checked for proper installation.
The Oh Baby! Celebration event was previously known as the Daviess County World’s Greatest Baby Shower hosted by various community organizations in previous years. This is the 2nd year the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service has been the primary host/coordinator of the event.
This event is hosted by the Daviess County Cooperative Extension office in partnership with other community partners and sponsors, including:
- Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service,
- Owensboro Health,
- Green River District Health Department,
- Aetna Better Health,
- Passport Health Plan,
- WellCare Health Plans, Inc.,
- Humana – CareSource,
- and Junior League of Owensboro.
The celebration will be held at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church ROC (Renewal and Outreach Center) located at 202 East 4th Street.
