Kroger Street Fair
This Friday’s Theme: “Salute to Agriculture”. It’s an all-star salute to our agricultural community! We will host a FREE Petting Zoo for the kids filled with furry friends your kids will love! We’ll have more than 15 ag related vendors and three HUGE FARM MACHINES right there! Be sure to bring your wide-angle lens! Your kids’ favorite “Cartoon Farm Animals” will be wandering around Smothers Park with its Signature Fountain, “Lazy Dayz” playground that includes giant trees that you can climb up from the INSIDE! Plus, everyone will have fun in the spray ground and have a breath-taking view of the beautiful overlook on the Ohio. We’ll have the Welborn’s kids’ Hula-Hoop contest at 7:45 followed by the Kroger Water Balloon Toss. Winning couple gets a $30 Kroger Gift card and a towel. We’ll “Toast to the Sunset” at dusk. Boscoe France – Don Moore Party on the Pier
Let the party begin! It’s our newest venue and the Don Moore Auto Team brings the party to the Pier tonight with Boscoe France! Western Kentucky has a rich history of producing talented musicians who have made huge contributions to our nation’s musical heritage. Well known musicians such as Bill Monroe and Merle Travis are known worldwide for their groundbreaking recordings and performances. This tradition continues today with young, extremely talented musicians such as Boscoe France. His family’s love of music inspired him at the age of three to pick up a guitar. By the age of fourteen, Boscoe was playing bars in bands and developing his skills as a professional guitarist. Later, always involved in music, he also worked as part of the road crew for several national acts. Blues influence helped Boscoe become the 2012 winner of Guitar Center’s Battle Of The Blues competition in Los Angeles. Out of over four thousand competitors nationwide, Boscoe came out on top. In addition to the cash and gear prizes, Boscoe became an official endorser of Gibson guitars, Egnater amps, Ernie Ball, Roland, and Shure microphones. Recording sessions with Grammy winning producer Pete Anderson were also a result of the competition. Boscoe can be seen performing with his band, The Boscoe France Band – featuring John Gillespie on bass and Jimmy Cummings on drums. The stage area overlooks both the Ohio River within easy walking distance of the new waterfall feature and the Signature Fountain, designed by the same people who created the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas.
