Owensboro Health Regional Hospital will be hosting the 15th Annual Western Kentucky Breastfeeding Coalition Conference. The conference will take place August 7th in Café A from 7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. The material presented is intended for nurses in maternity care and lactation consultants across Kentucky.
Amy Spangler, author of multiple breastfeeding guides, will be speaking at the conference. Amy is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, a former president of the International Lactation Consultant Association, and a former chair of the United States Breastfeeding Committee. Amy is a member of the adjunct faculty at Emory, College of Nursing and currently serves as President of baby gooroo.
Participants will learn about multiple facets of breastfeeding, including, why parents and health care providers should care about breastfeeding, SIDS prevention and breastfeeding promotion and much more.
Owensboro Health is proud to host this conference at our facility. “In fulfilling our mission to improve the health of our community, we promote the US Surgeon General’s call to action to support the exclusive feeding of breast milk to newborns for the first six months of life,” said Clinical Educator Sarah Martin. “We are very excited to host this event for those who work with families in our community and communities across Western Kentucky.”
