Brescia University will offer an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design online through BUonline beginning January 2015. This focused, two-year program will cover the fundamental skills students need for any type of design media as well as basic software skills.

Students will learn to use the Adobe Suite of creative software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and InDesign. This combination of range and experience results in a marketable skill set that is directly applicable to a variety of careers.

“Employment of graphic designers is expected to grow 7 percent through the year 2022, as graphic design professionals continue to play an important role in both marketing and advertising industries. In a world where the job market is so unpredictable, students are drawn to careers with promising job opportunities. It only makes sense that we would create a program that not only sets students on a pathway to a career that is in high demand, but that we do it through BUonline with the flexibility to meet any need,” stated Shanda LaRue, Director of Operations, BUonline. “We are very excited to get this program added to our roster.”

BUonline is the alternative learning environment developed for distance learners by Brescia University. It seeks to empower students who want to learn, to do so in a format that fits their individual needs.

BUonline programs offer convenience, flexibility and affordability individuals need to move forward in their careers with minimum disruption to their other life commitments. Over 15 degree options at the Certificate, Associate, Bachelor and Graduate level are available.

Students enrolled in the graphic design program can expect to be challenged to find creative solutions to a variety of client needs and will graduate with a portfolio that will make them competitive in the job market.

For new students with no transfer credits, the program will take approximately 2 to 2.5 years to complete when attending full-time, year round. BUonline offers five start dates: August, October, January, March and May.

Students interested in applying for the program, or to see other online programs available visit http://online.brescia.edu/ or call 1-877-BRESCIA or 270-686-4353.

About Brescia University
Brescia University is a Catholic, liberal arts institution founded in the Ursuline tradition of personal and social transformation through education by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph in 1950. Its origins are in Mount Saint Joseph Junior College for Women, established at Maple Mount, Kentucky in 1925. Between 1925 and 1950, coeducational extension courses in Owensboro led to the creation of a second campus and, after 1949, consolidation of the two campuses at the present site of Brescia University. In 1951, Brescia began operating as a four-year college. Directed to academic and moral excellence in a student-centered environment, Brescia offers undergraduate and graduate programs that serve students who seek success through rewarding careers and service to others.
