JD Beach (of Philpot) won the inaugural MotoAmerica Supersport Race April 11th in Austin Texas, marking his first win in the MotoAmerica Supersport class.
Beach, riding for Yamaha, was in a four-way battle throughout the race, swapping leads and fighting for the win. Rain fell for most of the race, adding to the excitement. Then with four laps to go, the rain poured down even harder as Beach took the lead and held on to the end.
In a MotoAmerica press release following the race, JD commented, “All that training in the cold conditions in Kentucky over the winter really paid off. Racing is my life, and I’ve been doing it since I was really little. I’ve dedicated myself to this, so to finally get this win makes me so happy. And, I’m also really happy for my entire Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha team.”
Earlier in the day, Owensboro native Nicky Hayden finished 13th in the MotoGP CoTA (Circuit of the Americas) race in the MotoGP World Championship series, which also marked a major milestone in his career: His 200th MotoGP race.
