Just in time for Halloween, Back Alley Musicals’ opening production will bring to the stage such ghoulish and lovable characters as Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, Grandma, and Uncle Fester as it presents The Addams Family Thursday – Sunday, October 29 – November 1.
Thursday through Saturday evening shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. in the Jody Berry Theatre, at Owensboro’s RiverPark Center.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students and are on sale through the RiverPark Center Box Office at (270) 687-2787 or at www.riverparkcenter.org.
Gomez (David Roberson) and Morticia (Loré Renner North) Addams have summoned the ancestors to assemble for the annual tribute to what it means to be an Addams. As the ancestors attempt to return from the crypt, they run into a problem with Uncle Fester (Anthony Eiras) who is in a dither about Wednesday (now all grown up), who has fallen in love with a “normal” young man. Wednesday (Tori Garmon) and boyfriend Lucas (Lucas Butler) decide it is time for their families to meet over dinner at the Addams Family mansion.
Can love triumph over the mixture of kooky Addams Family household members who include Pugsley Addams (Bodie Moore), Grandma (René Little), Lurch (Kevin Brown) and the furry Cousin It, the creepy Hand, and the rest of the clan? Lucas takes his “normal” parents, the Beinekes (Joe Bob Pierce and Alisa Hamilton), to meet the Addams household.
Can love triumph? Come find out. We’ll leave the lights OFF for you.
The musical comedy is based on the characters created by Charles Addams. Music, lyrics: Andrew Lippa. Book: Marshall Brickman, Rick Elice. The show contains some adult humor. Ron Waite and Amy Cox are co-directing and Corey Cellurale is the musical director for this delightful season opener.
Audience members are invited to “get into the spirit” by dressing as a member of the family—the Addams Family that is. A prize will be given at each performance for best costume for those who wish to participate.
