The Daviess County Bicentennial is concluding its yearlong celebration of the county’s 200th birthday by preparing scrolls for the new time capsule. Scrolls are placed around the community to collect signatures. For $2.00, you can add your signature to these historic scrolls.
Visit these locations to sign the scrolls:
- Daviess County Courthouse, Second floor;
- H. L. Neblett Center;
- Owensboro Antique Mall;
- Owensboro Convention Center;
- Owensboro Museum of Fine Art;
- Owensboro Museum of Science and History
- and the Courthouse during Holiday Stroll.
The money raised will go toward the final purchase of the new sculpture, “Hometown”, which is presently on lease, located on the Second Street side of the courthouse lawn. The Bicentennial committee wants to insure the sculpture will become a permanent piece of public art to enjoy as we begin our next century.
The closing ceremony of the Daviess County Bicentennial Year will be at 4pm on Dec. 5th during Holiday Stroll. Items going into the time capsule will be on display, signatures will be collected, music by Randy Lanham, and more.
