The neon signs at the Wonder Whip are back on!
New owner, Seth Woodward, turned the “open” signs on at 11 this morning for a soft opening. “We had our first customer within a minute, and we’ve had a pretty steady flow all day,” Woodward said.
Former owner, Bill Mulligan, his mother, who worked at the Whip for seventeen years, and another long-time employee were all on hand for the soft opening. “I’ve been relying on them pretty heavily today,” Woodward said. “With the three of them, we’ve got over 50 years experience under one roof right now.”
As far as a grand opening, we can expect that in March or April when the weather is nicer. Right now, the priority is getting people back to the Whip.
“As you can see,” Seth said, pointing to the Pepsi menu board, “we haven’t changed the menu or adjusted the prices at all. Everything’s exactly the same as the day it closed.”
But over time, Seth says they might try adding new menu items.
The next noticeable change will be landscaping. “It will look nice,” Woodward said. “This lot will really shine at night.”
The Whip plans to be open Tuesday-Thursday 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturdays 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sundays 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
