Kentucky Wesleyan College will serve as the title sponsor for November’s Rooster Booster event, the monthly business breakfast hosted by the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. The event will be hosted at the Owensboro Convention Center on Nov. 2, 2017, at 7:30 a.m.

The featured speaker will be former Panther basketball great George Tinsley ’69 of Winter Haven, Fla., president and CEO of PenGeo, Inc., and Tinsley Group, Inc.

After playing basketball for Louisville Male High School, Tinsley was recruited by Kentucky Wesleyan Head Basketball Coach Guy Strong. He became the first NCAA Division II player to start and win three NCAA Championships, being named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player in 1969 and earning a spot on the All-Tournament team in 1968 and 1969.  The NABC First-Team All-American started a record

20 consecutive NCAA Tournament games from 1966 to 1969.

Tinsley was the first Division II player to be inducted into the state of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame (2011) and is a member of the Kentucky Wesleyan Alumni Hall of Fame (2005) and Athletic Hall of Fame (2013). On the evening of Nov. 2, he will be enshrined alongside fellow members of the second-ever class of the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame in Evansville, Ind.

Tinsley was drafted by the Oakland Oaks of the American Basketball Association in 1969 and played four seasons with the Oaks, Washington Capitals, Miami Floridians, Kentucky Colonels and New York Nets. He then launched a business career that led him from Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee to CEO and President of PenGeo, Inc. and the Tinsley Group, Inc. His holdings span 45 restaurants, including KFC,

TGI Fridays, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Jose Cuervos, Quiznos and Home Team Sports Bar and Grill. After 21 years of entrepreneurship, Tinsley has amassed numerous accolades and honors from his business practices.
