Panther Creek Park (5160 Wayne Bridge Road) will host Take a Kid Fishing Day this Saturday, May 30th from 9am until Noon.
The cost is $2.00 per kid and adult, which includes a hotdog, chips, and drink for lunch and a t-shirt for kids (while supplies last.) Tournament prizes will be given for age groups 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, and 12-15. There will also be a casting and reeling contest.
Rules: All kids must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Life jackets must be worn by kids under 7 years old.
To ensure the family atmosphere for the fishing tournament, organizers ask that each child participant be allowed to fish independently, as much as possible, with minimum assistance from parents and other adults in fishing for prizes. This also means adults should not pool fish for kids during the tournament.
What to bring: A limited number of fishing poles and bait will be provided, so kids are encouraged to bring their own poles and bait. Also, please bring a cooler of ice to take fish home in.
