Sutton Elementary staff and students will have the school’s annual Derby Day 5K fundraiser on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 9 a.m.

The annual race starts at Rash Stadium at Owensboro High School and ends in the back parking lot of Owensboro High School. All proceeds directly benefit Sutton Elementary school students.

“What better way to start the biggest sporting day in Kentucky than to bring the family out for a little bit of exercise,” said Tiffany Hoffman, Sutton teacher.

Anyone can run in the 5K. In fact, there is even a family rate for those wanting to cut a few calories before Kentucky Derby parties.

“This race is for everyone. It doesn’t matter what school you go to or what school your child goes to. A lot of people run in the race that don’t even have children,” said Hoffman.

Awards will be given to multiple age groups.

Race day registration is $30 a person beginning at 8 a.m. There’s also the family rate for $40 and $45.

The school is located at 2060 Lewis Lane. Remember, the race is at Owensboro High School, not Sutton.
