Sharks are coming to the Owensboro Museum of Science and History!
Dan Dunlap, Education Curator with the Newport Aquarium, will bring the aquarium’s “shark cart” on Saturday, May 21 from 2 – 4 p.m.
Debbie Stites, the Museum’s publicity director, says the cart will give kids and up close and personal view of the sharks. Those adventurous enough will even have the opportunity to touch the sharks. Stites says this cart is the only one like it in the country.
Newport Aquarium’s website says the cart “demystifies common misconceptions about sharks” through an encounter that includes several artifacts such as shark jaws, a can of shark fin soup, shark eggs, and more. The end goal is for participants to discover how to make a difference in shark conservation.
The program will be held in the Mammoth Lobby on the first floor.
The Shark Encounter is free with a regular museum admission of $3 per person. Children two years & under and museum members are admitted free.
