The public is invited to join Specialty Foods Group™ for “An Afternoon in the Park,” a FREE, family-friendly event to be held at Smother’s Park from 5-7pm on Thursday, July 9th.

The Specialty Food Group (SFG) sales team will be serving hotdogs and sausages, a variety of chips, soft drinks or bottled water, and ice cream treats. The event will also feature kids’ activities such as face painting, caricature artists, a balloon artist, and music. Brand Manager Corey Thompson told Owensboro Living that SFG chose to host the event at Smother’s park because “we wanted this event to be child-oriented. Hopefully the weather cooperates because we hope to see a lot of families come out and enjoy it.”

In a recent press release, SFG announced that they will be moving their corporate headquarters to Owensboro “to compliment our 100-year-old presence of the manufacturing facilities.”

“With headquarters moving here, we want to get out and be involved in the community,” Thompson said.

Specialty Foods Group, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of leading national and regional favorite brands of ham, lunchmeat and hot hogs under the Kentucky Legend®, Field®, Fischer’s®, Mickelberry’s® and Scott Pete® brands.
