Southern Oaks Elementary School is hosting Pioneer Day activities from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3. The event will take place rain or shine.
Children will also enjoy tractor rides and participate in hands-on demonstrations such as panning for gold, bartering for goods and butter churning. Students will also experience some of the traditional chores that would have been part of a child’s life in the pioneer days.
Other highlights of the day will include visits from Daniel Boone and Johnny Appleseed, who will tell stories about their adventures.
A traditional pioneer menu will be served as a special lunch.
“From farming to food to fun, students will experience life in pioneer times” as part of this special day, said event organizer Lisa Yeiser.
Our media partners are cordially invited to attend. The school is located at 7525 U.S. Highway 431, Utica (south of Owensboro). For more information, contact Lisa Yeiser at Southern Oaks Elementary School, (270) 852-7570 or [email protected]
