The Premier Basketball League (PBL) regular season has drawn to a close. Only four teams remain as they prepare to take home the PBL National Championship. The remaining four include the Rochester RazorSharks (16-2), Ohio Bootleggers (12-6), Jamestown Jackals (6-10), and our very own Kentucky Mavericks (15-3).
Kentucky Mavericks will host the Ohio Bootleggers this Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 4pm at the Owensboro SportsCenter to determine who will move on to Championship week. Doors to the game open at 2:30pm.
At the other tournament site, the Rochester RazorSharks will host the Jamestown Jackals at 2pm the same day. The winners of these two contests will then face off in a three game series. The times and dates of these contests will be determined by the outcome of the said games. The PBL will make an announcement of the times and dates of the Finals series on Monday, April 3.
97X will be presenting local fan favorite band Pick Your Poison with live entertainment throughout the game on Facebook.
Fans who dress in the best Mavericks spirit wear can win the “Mavericks Spirit Fan of the Game” and win the Maverick’s gear grand prize. Judging will take place as fans arrive and the prize will be awarded during the second quarter.
Green River Appliance and Furniture will be giving away the actual couch that is used for the “Best Seat in the House.” Green River will distribute numbered coupons at the front entrance only (One numbered coupon per game ticket). During the fourth quarter, the lucky number will be drawn to determine the new owner of the “Best Seat in the House.” You must be present to win the couch.
Another opportunity for fans is found when they go to the Maverick’s Facebook Page this week. After clicking on the Share to Win promotion, you can comment with your favorite game photo and the photo with the most likes wins four courtside tickets for Sunday’s game. The promotion begins Wednesday morning at 9am and ends Saturday evening at 5pm. The organization will post the winner and communicate through direct message on Saturday evening. “We have had a great season to this point,” said PBL Commissioner Dennis Truax. “Each of our member teams where competitive and the regular season provided great competition. The playoffs will highly spirited and every possession will be vital as the teams will be looking to capture the championship. I expect to see great games every night of the playoffs. The fans will not be disappointed in the level of playoff basketball in the PBL.”
