Second District U.S. Representative Brett Guthrie (R-Bowling Green) will meet with students at College View Middle School on Friday, Jan. 30.

Four sessions are planned as part of the visit. A schedule and summary are listed below:

From 1 to 1:20 p.m. and from 1:22 to 1:42 p.m., Rep Guthrie will meet with eighth-grade students who are currently participating in a government simulation designed to familiarize them with the branches of government, their roles and responsibilities. Rep. Guthrie will share insights about his experience as a Congressional representative.

From 1:45 to 2:05 p.m. and from 2:10 to 2:30 p.m., Rep. Guthrie will meet with students in grades 7 and 6 (respectively). These sessions will focus on an overview of his office, with an introduction and review of the governmental process.

These educational presentations will include an opportunity for students to ask questions to learn more about how the federal government works on behalf of citizens. As a state representative, Guthrie is involved in discussions about issues ranging from national security to the Keystone Pipeline project and the Regulatory Accountability Act. Guthrie serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, as well as numerous subcommittees focusing on areas such as health, communications and technology, and commerce, manufacturing and trade.
