THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO
The Marriage of Figaro is a tender comedy in which a countess and her servant join forces to punish her aristocrat husband for philandering. In a single crazy, romantic day, doors will be locked and unlocked, disguises donned, kisses exchanged and innermost hearts revealed – to some of the most memorable music Mozart ever composed. In the process, two very different couples learn humbling lessons about life and love.
The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Opera and the Kentucky Wesleyan Singers will present an evening of opera that will be familiar to all. Mozart’s Figaro features music that has been used in countless movies and advertisements, including Trading Places, The King’s Speech, and The Shawshank Redemption.

MICHAEL CAVANAUGH: THE MUSIC OF BILLY JOEL AND MORE!
One of Broadway’s best will join the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra for an evening of fun and entertaining music. Hand-picked by Billy Joel for the starring role in the Broadway musical, Movin’ Out, Grammy and Tony nominated Michael Cavanaugh has won the hearts of audiences and critics. In his tribute to Billy Joel, the audience will hear many of the Piano Man’s biggest hits including She’s Got A Way, New York State of Mind, Uptown Girl, Only The Good Die Young, You May Be Right and Just The Way You Are.
It was at the famed “New York, New York Hotel and Casino” where Billy Joel spotted Michael and joined him on stage one fateful night in February 2001. It only took 2 songs before Billy was convinced that he had found his new Piano Man, Michael Cavanaugh. Michael closed up shop at New York, New York and moved to New York City to work alongside Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp, to shape the Broadway Musical that would be called “Movin’ Out”.
With the close of Movin’ Out at the end of 2005, Michael began touring in his own right, creating a show that reinterprets the modern pop/rock songbook. Michael soon became one of the hottest artist’s in the corporate/events market. He continues to perform worldwide for company and charity events as well as sporting events including PGA tour events, the US Open, the Indy 500. It wasn’t long before symphony orchestras discovered Michael’s talents and audience appeal. He accepted his first orchestral booking, “Michael Cavanaugh – The Songs of Billy Joel and more” which debuted in April of 2008 with the Indianapolis Symphony and continues to tour. In October 2008, he signed with Warner/ADA to distribute his first CD titled “In Color”. In June, 2010, Michael debuted his second symphony show in the “Generations of Rock” series entitled “Michael Cavanaugh: The Songs of Elton John & more” and continues to tour both symphony productions.

Just when the audience thinks the concert can’t get any better, one of Owensboro’s favorite pianists, Diane Earle joins the orchestra for a performance of Gershwin’s best – Rhapsody in Blue.
