Owensboro/Daviess County White Flag Warming Shelter

The first White Flag (warming shelter) Event of the 2017-2018 cold season will occur Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings (December 7-9, 2017).

Thursday night: Air Temperature (20°F) plus wind speed (5mph) equates to 13°F Wind Chill

Friday night: Air Temperature (24°F) plus wind speed (8mph) equates to 15°F Wind Chill

Saturday night: Air Temperature (22°F) plus wind speed (9mph) equates to 12°F Wind Chill

White Flag Warming Shelter Information:

Location: St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter (1001 W. 7th St., Owensboro, KY)

Provided: bedding/linens, shower/toiletries, and a warm place to spend the evening (men, women, children, families)

POC: Harry Pedigo (St. Benedicts Homeless Shelter Manager)

Phone: 270-541-1003

White Flag hours: 7 p.m. through 8 a.m.

Meals: Provided at Daniel Pitino Shelter (501 Walnut St., Owensboro, KY) [phone: (270) 688-9000]

Breakfast: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Lunch: 11a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Dinner: 5:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Transportation: By foot or bus pass. If other arrangements become necessary, Daniel Pitino Shelter will contact GRITS, which may need 2-hr advance notice.

Please Note:  Those seeking shelter are not required to go to Daniel Pitino Shelter, as in the past.  If desired they may self-transport to St. Benedicts Homeless Shelter anytime during the White Flag operating hours.
