The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra begins its 49th season Saturday night with a “Night of Romance” featuring the music of Vaughn Williams (Wasps Overture, Prokofiev), excerpts from Romeo & Juliet, Haydn (Concerto in C Major and Bernstein), and Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
OSO is honored to welcome 20-year-old American cellist virtuoso Cicely Parnas to help start their season. The New York Times described Parnas as bringing a “velvety sound, articulate passagework and keen imagination” to her performances. As First Prize Winner of the 2012 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, she will be presented this season in New York at the Rhoda Walker Teagle Concert and in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center.
The theme for the 2014-2015 season is “Play On.” Tickets can be purchased by calling OSO at 270-684-0661 or online at www.theoso.com. Season tickets are now on sale and first time subscribers get a 50% discount.
