Owensboro Family YMCA is partnering with One Health @ Work to offer free educational seminars to the public.
The first seminar will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Owensboro Family Y board room (900 Kentucky Parkway).
The topic is nutrition and will focus on portion sizes and portion control. “During the seminar, participants will learn about what a good portion size is for each food group, how to measure those servings, and some tips and tricks for practicing portion control while eating in and eating out,” says Shelby Shelby, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at One Health Education and Wellness.
Portion sizes in America have changed over the past 20 years. In light of that, Shelby says the seminar will compare portion sizes of today versus portion sizes served 20 years ago and discuss what participants can do to reverse the trend of increasing obesity rates.
Space is limited to 18 participants. Anyone insterested in attenting is asked to contact [email protected] to reserve a spot.
