Town Square Mall is hosting a “No Fear” event to honor first responders.
The event is open to the public and will be held at Towne Square Mall on Monday, September 11, 2017, from 5-8pm.
The evening includes fire truck and police car displays, inflatables for kids, and live music with bands ranging from southern rock/county, blues, and Gospel.
All first responders in attendance will receive free soft drinks and popcorn. All guests will receive free popcorn and bottle water. Food vendors will also be on hand.
Anthony Cobb, who is a chaplain for the Fraternal Order of Police and helped organize the event, says they called the event “No Fear” because “when others run from danger, first responders run toward it.”
“There so much negativity in today’s society about first responders. So we wanted to do something positive to honor all first responders,” Cobb said.
Randy Kassinger came up with the idea for No Fear to honor first responders on 9/11. Kassinger, Cobb, and a planning committee coordinated the event, which is sponsored by Kassinger Properties. Town Square Mall, Scoops and More, and Owensboro Police Department.
There will also be a guest speaker who lost her brother in the line of duty and a special plaque presentation to the wives of fallen firefighters Jeff Millay and David McCrady.
The committee hopes to make this an annual event that gets bigger and better every year.
