Hartford’s Ramsey Carpenter earned quite a bit of attention this week during the Miss America preliminary competitions in Atlantic City.
According to MissAmerica.org “Miss Kentucky Ramsey Carpenter was named Wednesday night’s preliminary talent winner for her fiddle performance of ‘Sally Goodin’ and ‘Orange Blossom Special’ in Boardwalk Hall.” For her recognition, Ramsey will receive a $2,000 scholarship.
The 2015 Miss America final competition airs Sunday night at 7 p.m. on ABC live from Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
Ramsey is a 2008 graduate of Ohio County High School and just graduated from the University of Kentucky in May with a degree in special education, learning and behavioral disorders. She is the daughter of Donna Carpenter and Joey Carpenter of Hartford.
Since being crowned Miss Kentucky in July, Carpenter’s platform issue has been Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, a condition which she was diagnosed with in 2010. She was awarded the Heather French Henry Quality of Life Award for her outstanding work with her platform. If her platform plays out as well on Sunday night as her fiddle playing did on Wednesday, things are looking pretty good for Carpenter for the finals.
Good luck Ramsey! We’ll be watching…
