The Kentucky Wesleyan College Choir received multiple donations Thursday morning at Independence Bank to help fund the choir’s trip they will be taking in May to Vienna, Prague, Olomouc, Leipzig, and Berlin. Last summer the Kentucky Wesleyan singers were invited by Palatky University in the Czech Republic to perform in a joint concert. The last time the choir was able to travel was in the 1990’s, so this was a tremendous opportunity for the college choir.
The following donations were made to Kentucky Wesleyan after the students gave a special
performance.
From: Michael E. Horn Family Foundation
Amount: $26,000
From: Jack Wells
Amount: $5,000
From: Independence Bank
Amount: $5,000
Associate Professor of Music, Dennis Jewett said, “Our students have not had an opportunity like this in over 25 years. We have studied so many great composers in class and now the students will get to experience where these great composers came from. The trip is very expensive and would be hard for the students to pay for on their own. For many of the students this will be their first trip out of the country. We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations to make this trip possible for them.”
