Who has been watching Kaleb Lee’s journey on NBC’s The Voice? Kaleb is originally from Benton, Kentucky and moved to Owensboro to take a worship pastor position at BridgePointe in 2007. Though only here for three years, Kaleb and his family remain close with their BridgePointe family and will always consider Kentucky to be home.
Last week in the Battle Round of the hit singing competition show, Kaleb Lee battled fellow contestant Pryor Baird. Their coach, country singer Blake Shelton, ultimately chose Baird as the winner of the battle, leaving Kaleb Lee to exit the show. However, The Voice’s newest coach, Kelly Clarkson, used her steal to keep Kaleb on the show and on her team.
Last night, Kaleb performed for the first time on Clarkson’s team in the Knockout Round of The Voice. He competed against Clarkson’s other country singing competitor, Justin Kilgore. After singing Zac Brown Band’s song, “Free,” Kaleb was chosen as winner of the Knockout Round, impressing his coach.
“Kaleb, I was impressed by you in the blinds, and then I was even more impressed by you in the battles,” Kelly told the artist that she stole from rival coach Blake Shelton. “And now, I mean, I looked at Blake and I was like, you’re stupid!” Kelly later added, “I am very excited about Kaleb because he is my country guy that is just a solid singer.”
Kaleb’s version of “Free” is now at no. 31 on the country charts on iTunes and no. 150 overall. Tune in next week for the show’s live performances.
