Versailles, Ky. – Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President Jay Box has announced the appointment of Scott Williams, Ph.D., as the next president of Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC).

Williams has 15 years of experience at OCTC and is currently the vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer, a position he has held since 2008. Williams came to OCTC in 2000 as an associate professor and agriculture technology and biotechnology coordinator after 10 years as an associate professor at the University of Georgia.

“Dr. Williams will be an excellent leader for OCTC,” said President Box. “We are fortunate he already has great knowledge and experience within our system and his vision and ideas will lead to the continued success of the college.”

After consideration of three candidates, the OCTC Board of Directors unanimously recommended Williams for the position. Board Chair Jeff Carpenter said, “We are pleased to recommend Dr. Williams as the next president of OCTC. We would like to commend the presidential search committee for identifying and bringing in three outstanding candidates for our consideration.”

Williams received both a bachelor of science and master’s degree in animal science from the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. from Colorado State University.

“I am truly humbled and excited by this opportunity,” said Williams.

“Owensboro Community & Technical College is a great place, and to be able to influence the lives of so many is an honor. I look forward to the work ahead and the chance to take this institution from great, to outstanding.”

Williams will begin the appointment July 1, 2015. He and his wife Donna currently reside in Owensboro.
