Rob Mallory, associate director of athletics at Quincy University for the past four years, has been appointed Director of Athletics at Kentucky Wesleyan College, as announced by President Bart Darrell.
Mallory, 35, currently oversees a comprehensive NCAA compliance program and management of all game operations plus leads the department in the absence of the director of athletics.
He also supervises the areas of sports information and athletic training, provides support in the areas of budgeting, strategic planning, and personnel decisions.
Mallory recently finished a three-year term serving on the NCAA Division II Regional Advisory
Committee for football.
Darrell stated, “Rob Mallory is clearly one of the rising stars in collegiate athletics and Kentucky Wesleyan is elated to have attracted a director of athletics of his caliber. What is unique about Rob is his commitment to the Division-II athletic model.
He values the integrations of a private, faith-based education with athletics to produce the true scholar-athlete experience. He will work so well with our coaches, faculty, our students campus-wide, the Owensboro-Daviess County community and the college community nationwide.
I am proud and excited to have Rob Mallory as part of the Kentucky Wesleyan leadership team.”
Prior to joining the Hawks in July 2010, Mallory served three years as the Director of Marketing & Ticket Services at the University of Evansville. He managed all operations of the ticket office, including sales and customer service.
In addition, Mallory helped develop and implement strategies to increase sales, revenue, and attendance and oversaw game operations for several sports.
“I want to thank President Bart Darrell for giving me the opportunity to serve this great institution,” Mallory stated. “One thing that immediately stood out to me was the incredible energy and passion that President Darrell and his leadership team bring to Wesleyan on a daily basis.
As an Evansville native, I know very well that Kentucky Wesleyan has a rich and proud history in Division II athletics, I look forward to working with the coaches and scholar-athletes to continue to build on that tradition.”
I’m very eager to contribute to that culture as soon as possible and very honored to become a member of the Kentucky Wesleyan family.
“I also want to thank Quincy Athletics Director Marty Bell for everything he has done to prepare me for this moment.
The product of Mater Dei High School graduated in 2002 from the University of Notre Dame, where he was a member of the Monogram Club and served as the head football manager in 2001.
He earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Xavier University in 2007. Mallory and his wife, Holly, have a two-year old daughter, Lilly.
Mallory succeeds Jim Askins who, months ago, announced he would be stepping down at the end of his contract term.
Darrell added, “We appreciate and thank Mr. Askins for his service to his alma mater. He helped guide us through the initial days of our new conference, The Great Midwest Athletic Conference, which is proving to be a great move for Wesleyan, both athletically and academically.”
