Summer programming continues at Daviess County Public Library. Here is a list of events planned for the rest of July, 2016.
July 16 @ 10 a.m. – Storytelling with Octavia Sexton
Octavia Sexton, a native of Eastern Kentucky, will be joining us to share her rich storytelling traditions. During this two-hour workshop, Octavia will lead participants in creating their own stories, using storytelling techniques to tell the story, and then acting it out.
July 20 @ 2 p.m. & @ 3 p.m. – Wump Mucket Puppets
Join us for songs, skits and silliness with master puppeteer Terrence Burke and his zany cast of puppet stars!
July 21@ 5:30 p.m. – Community Conversations with the Human Relations Commission
The Human Relations Commission will host an open forum to discuss a specific lifestyle. The focus on this evening’s conversation will involve a panel of different religions to show how we can all relate to one another on some level.
July 23 @ 6 p.m.-9 p.m. – An Evening With Your Ancestors
Are you interested in genealogy? Come and see the resources the Kentucky Room has to offer and spend some quality time with your ancestors. Registration is required.
July 26 @ 1 p.m. – Teen Chocolate Olympics
Teens, come celebrate the upcoming Olympics with the library’s own version of the Games: the Chocolate Olympics! We’ll have challenges of all kinds with one thing in common: Chocolate! Bring your friends and your sweet tooth to this delicious competition!
July 27 @ 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. – Kentucky Down Under
Kentucky Down Under will feature animals from the Australian Outback including a baby kangaroo, a woma python, and many more! Recommended for all ages.
July 28 @ 6 p.m. – Writing and Self-Publishing with Jerry Deaton
Jerry Deaton will lead a seminar on the writing and self-publishing process. Jerry has written two books on his native Breathitt County, one fiction and one non-fiction.
July 30 @ 1 p.m. – Teen Harry Potter Party
Celebrate the release of the newest Harry Potter Book, “Harry Potter and Cursed Child,” with a party worthy of the wizarding world! Get sorted into a House, make a wand, play Muggle Quidditch and more! Costumes are Welcome!
July 30 @ 1 p.m. – Bi-Okoto Drum and Dance Performance
Come with us to Africa! Bi-Okoto is a drum and dance performance organization and they are currently touring the country. This program will take place in the auditorium at Owensboro High School.
