Six DCHS Student-athletes to Sign Letters of Intent

Daviess County High School will host a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the school cafeteria as six student-athletes sign letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at post-secondary institutions.

“I am really proud that so many of our outstanding student-athletes have earned the opportunity to continue their success both in the classroom and on the fields of competition at the next level,” said DCHS athletic director Jeff Hurley. “This is a real tribute to these students, as well as their families, teachers and coaches who have guided them along the way.”

Family members, friends and members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the following DCHS seniors:

Shelby Buschkoetter will play volleyball at Brescia University. Shelby has played nine seasons of competitive volleyball, including four as a member of the DCHS varsity team. She was awarded All-District team honors three years in a row and earned one All-Region award and one All-State award. Shelby was elected by her teammates to serve as team captain her junior and senior years. She is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society.

Allison Chappell will play soccer at Brescia University. Allison earned KHSAA Academic All-State honors all four years of her high school career and was an honorable mention All-State in 2015. She has also been an active member of the Beta Club, Key Club, National Honor Society and Renaissance projects at Daviess County High School.

Madison Dooley will run cross country for Campbellsville University. Madison was a member of the DCHS state championship cross country team in 2015. She has earned Academic All-State honors all four years of her high school career. She is involved in several clubs and organizations at DCHS, including Beta Club, the National Honor Society, Key Club and Y Club.

Madalynn Peveler will play soccer at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Madalynn is a four-year member of the DCHS varsity soccer team. She was named to the regional tournament team her freshman year. As a junior, she was named to the All-District and All-Region teams and received the Unsung Hero Award. During her senior year, Madalynn won the Lady Panther Award and was named team captain. She was named to the All-District and regional tournament teams and was named to the First Team All-Region Team. She has earned Academic All-State honors all four years of high school. The DCHS soccer team won district and regional champions when she was a freshman and district and regional runner-up during her junior and senior years.

Madison Ralph will play volleyball at Oakland City University. Madison has played six seasons of competitive volleyball, including four at DCHS. She was on the All-District team for 2015, which finished the season first in the district and runner-up in the region, both firsts for the DCHS volleyball team. Madison has earned KHSAA Academic All-State honors all four years of high school. She is also a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society and has been on the honor roll all four years with a 3.9 grade point average.

Skylar Walden will play soccer at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Skylar was named to the All-District and All-Region teams and earned Academic All-State First Team honors all four years of her high school career. She earned All-State Honorable Mention honors her senior year and was named team captain.

The signing ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the DCHS cafeteria. The school is located at 4255 New Hartford Road.
