Independence Bank is partnering with the Imagination Library of Daviess County to bring the characters from your child’s favorite book off of the pages.
“Calling princesses, pirates and storybook characters of all ages!” the event’s flyer says.
“Imagination Library strives to get books into the hands of all children under the age of five,” said Amanda Payne, who works in the compliance department at Independence Bank and volunteers with the event. “We do this by raising money and (with) the support of local businesses and individuals.”
Imagination Library gives an estimated 50% of Daviess County’s children books monthly and hopes to increase the number. “It is a lot of work, but well worth it to know a difference is being made in childhood literacy in Daviess County,” Payne said.
The event on Saturday, March 25, 2017, is planned to include face painting, Owensboro Balloon Twisters, a pancake breakfast, and a free book for each child in attendance, along with authors of children books that will be reading and signing their books.
Independence Bank has been a supporter of Imagination Library for many years. There are two members of the Community Panel, Sarah Thomas and Kelsey Hargis, that sponsor the breakfast and the community Spelling Bee in the fall, also held by Imagination Library.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase at all Independence Bank locations in Owensboro. Tickets are $5 per person, when bought in advance, and $7 at the door. Children under the age of 2 receive free tickets. All Independence Bank Little Patriots receive a free ticket to the breakfast. Proceeds from the event will go towards Imagination Library’s literacy efforts.
The event will be held Saturday, March 25, from 8:30am to 11am at the Kentucky National Guard Armory, located at 3300 Tamarack Road, Owensboro, Kentucky.
