The Owensboro Museum of Science and History will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in style with a “Solid Gold Celebration” at the RiverPark Center this October.
The masquerade-themed fundraising event will feature dinner catered by Moonlite and live entertainment by Rock and Roll Pianos, a dueling piano band based in Nashville, TN.
“We are thinking outside-the-box with this event, by bringing in a dueling piano band, which is something you don’t see much in Owensboro,” said museum board member, Dave Kirk, adding that the band does take requests and the audience is encouraged to stump the band with obscure requests, which adds to the fun.
Event coordinator, Debbie Stites, added, “This is going to be a fun event. 50 years is a big celebration, so we want to get everybody involved and included in this event.”
For those who need childcare, a children’s event will coincide at the museum in the Playzeum. Parents can bring their children to the museum, then enjoy their evening at the gala.
The Solid Gold Celebration anniversary gala will be held October 29, 2016, at the RiverPark Center. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. with music/dancing beginning at 8 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to wear Black Tie, with an option to come in Masquerade Costumes. Celebrity judges will be on hand to recognize the best costumes of the night.
Tickets are $50 per person and go on sale June 27 at Owensborotickets.com.
Proceeds from the event will be used to create new programs and exhibits at the museum.
Owensboro Living will keep you updated as plans progress.
