The Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau is continuing their tradition of collecting holiday cards for delivery by the Western Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross to area veterans in senior living facilities and nursing homes.
The local Red Cross will deliver cards to military facilities, veteran’s homes and hospitals, and military family support groups in the region.
In addition to cards addressed to veterans, the CVB is also collecting blank cards with stamped envelopes that the veterans can use to send to their own family members.
Each card to be sent to a veteran should be signed by an individual or group of people and may include a personal message of thanks.
Cards may be addressed to “Honored Veteran,” “American Hero” or “Dear Service Member, Family or Veteran.”
Anyone wishing to donate blank cards the veterans can use should include blank cards and a blank envelope for each that is already stamped for mailing.
Cards are now being collected at the Convention and Visitors Bureau office at 215 E. 2nd Street, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is the CVB’s 10th year collecting and distributing cards to veterans and their families.
Card collection will continue through Dec. 8.
