For the first time in several years, the Kentucky School Public Relations Association (KYSPRA) is holding its annual conference and OASIS Awards banquet in Owensboro, Ky. on Nov. 10 and 11.
The conference will take place at the Owensboro Public Schools’ central office during the day on Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The banquet will be at the Holiday Inn Owensboro Riverfront on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.
“Owensboro has so much going for it right now. The downtown is absolutely incredible. We wanted to bring some recognition to the western part of the state for its achievements,” said Wayne Walden, KYSPRA President-Elect.
Around 50 school public relations professionals from around the Commonwealth are expected to attend the conference and awards banquet. The conference is offering several workshops where PR professionals can sharpen their communication skills.
“This is the 20th annual OASIS (Outstanding Achievement in School Information Services) professional development program. The program has two goals: to enable district staff to improve the products used to keep the public informed through peer critiques and to recognize exceptional work already done, which can be studied by folks in other districts,” said Brad Hughes, Kentucky School Boards Association Rep for KYSPRA.
