Join us on the Courthouse Lawn as we celebrate Daviess County’s 200th birthday! This is the “Official Ceremony” of our yearlong participation in community events highlighting our history and culture. free ceremony begins at 11:30 with music by the Kentucky Youth Chorale and continues with Joseph Hamilton Daveiss emceeing this special program. The day will include presentations, children’s activities, car displays, special music performances, clogging, living history actors, birthday cake for everyone and the opening of the 1965 time capsule. People will also have the opportunity to purchase the Challenge coin, the Bicentennial art print and the new topical history book, “Daviess County: Celebrating Our Heritage”.
Bring your lawn chairs; grab lunch from one of the downtown restaurants and picnic on the courthouse lawn. Specialty Foods Groups will be giving away free hot dogs to the first 100 people.
