Are you an adult who wishes that you could play an orchestra instrument? Do you love to support Daviess County Public School students?
Kelsey Davidson, orchestra director at Burns Middle School, is coordinating an innovative fundraiser that is designed to share a love for music and the performing arts with our entire community.
Davidson will be instructing violin, viola, cello, or double bass lessons for adults at a low cost. All instructional proceeds directly benefit the Burns Middle School and Apollo High School Orchestra Programs.
“I definitely believe that anyone can learn to play, regardless of age, but it’s harder to find a convenient opportunity as an adult,” Davidson said. “I thought that this could be a great situation for everyone involved – low-pressure group lessons in the evening for adults, and the students receive the funds that they need to continue learning in school.”
The lessons will be in either a group or private setting.
Group classes: Offered on Monday and Thursday nights from 7-8PM. The fee for group classes is $10 per class. Group classes will be led by Kelsey Davidson and assisted by Apollo High School students. Participants who choose the group option should be committed to attending most, if not all of the classes. They will be presented in a sequential order. Group participants can elect to also take private lessons, but do not need to take private lessons. Group class size is limited to 20.
Private lessons: Private lessons will be available on an individual basis. The fee for private lessons is $20 per 30-minute lesson. Most private lessons are given on a once-a-week basis. Private lessons are offered separate from, or in conjunction with group classes.
Participants are responsible for providing their own instruments (rentals available). If interested in purchasing an instrument for these classes, please consult with the instructor first to make sure that the instrument is of the quality necessary for success in this program.
