Kirk Kirkpatrick threw out the first beachball of the Friday After5 season this morning at the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce Rooster Booster Breakfast.
This year is a big year for FA5 as the annual summer concert and entertainment series celebrates its 20th season.
The festival started with music on four Friday nights in 1997. This year, FA5 covers 16 Friday nights, featuring 68 bands on multiple stages encompassing the entire riverfront starting Friday, May 20 through Friday, September 2.
New for this year:
- Cromwell Radio is sponsoring the “New Sound Stage” at the overlook, which will showcase new, up and coming entertainers from the region.
- Ahoy Boat Parade. Boats floating within earshot of the music have become a tradition at FA5. This year, for the first time, coordinators are attempting a “boat parade” on July 22 where the boats will process along the riverfront with their lights on.
- East Bridge Arts and Music Festival has been expanded to include Friday night, September 2 this year to be incorporated into the last FA5 of the season.
- Jagoe Homes is now the title sponsor for FA5, ensuring the fun continues.
- And, most importantly, Kirkpatrick promises there will be more cowbell this year!!!!
