On Wednesday, March 30, Philip Patterson resigned from his position as president and CEO of Owensboro Health. The health system’s day-to-day operations have been assumed by the senior administrative team.
No details were provided on his resignation which also follows the retirement of the hospital’s vice president and COO, Greg Strahan.
Patterson began his tenure as president & chief executive officer of Owensboro Health in November of 2013 when he replaced retiring president and CEO, Jeff Barber.
Before joining Owensboro Health, Patterson had been CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System, a three-hospital system in the New York / New Jersey. He has held CEO or senior management positions in health care in New York, Minnesota, Alabama, Texas and Louisiana since 1994.
Patterson earned his Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Auburn University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. A native of Mobile, Alabama, he and his wife Crystal have two children.
