After $65,000 worth of new equipment and some other renovations, the Owensboro Family YMCA is inviting the public to an open house on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The open house will feature member appreciation activities and serve as a way to announce the Annual Giving Campaign, which is used to provide assistance to those in need of YMCA programs and services.
“We are doing transformational work,” says Chad Hart, Senior Program Director. “We are not the typical ‘gym & swim.’ We do so much more! The YMCA has 3 causes: Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. We have ongoing plans for special tailored programs to serve our community in those three areas of cause.”
One example, according to Chad, is that the Y has budgeted to invest over $145,000 in direct assistance.
“This is going to be an exciting end-of-the-year for the Owensboro Family YMCA,” Hart said. He and the other staff at the YMCA are excited to show it off.
Here’s what you can expect during the open house:
- Tour both facilities: Owensboro Family YMCA at 900 Kentucky Parkway & The Athenian at 650 Chuck Gray Court.
- Join the Y with no joiner fee!
- Refer a friend and receive ONE MONTH FREE membership!
- Enter for raffle prizes
- Enjoy refreshments
Another exciting program the Y has started is the YMCA Leaders Club, which is a committee of Owensboro/Daviess County youth that will be tasked with improving the community through civic engagement and volunteering. A kickoff celebration will be held December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Holiday Inn to explain more about the club.
