As the grills come out and the boats go out, Labor Day is traditionally one last, long weekend to say goodbye to “summer.” If you’ve got time to fit some fun things in around cookouts and family reunions, here are a few events to keep in mind this weekend.

Kick off your Labor Day weekend with a dance party as Brescia University presents The Hiding on the main stage. The very eclectic Isomorphix rocks the UniFirst stage in the Atmos Energy Courtyard, and Roscoe France will be performing at the Don Moore Overlook Stage. Inside the RiverPark Center, Glenn Family Services presents “Gospel on the River” featuring the Crossmen, Deena Ashley, and Living by Faith.

Diamond Lakes Resort is celebrating Labor Day weekend with a Hawaiian Luau Saturday. Also, don’t forget RiverArtes at the Art Museum from 1-4 and “Picking on the River” & “Live on the Banks” 7-9 Saturday night at Smother’s Park.
[tw-divider] “Movies on the River” FREE outdoor movie Sunday Night [/tw-divider]
Sunday night, the RiverPark Center and USbank Home Mortgage presents the last of their FREE “Movies on the River” series. This Sunday’s showing is “MONSTERS UNIVERSITY,” which will begin at dusk on the beautiful BB&T Plaza. Chairs are provided but you may bring your own chair. No pets or coolers allowed. Concessions will be available.

The City of Owensboro FREE downtown trolley will operate on Labor Day, September 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The free downtown trolley schedule:
- Monday – Wednesday (10:00 AM – 10:00 PM)
- Thursday – Saturday (10:00 AM – Midnight)
[tw-divider]Edge Ice Center[/tw-divider]
The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center will be open this Monday, September 1, from noon to 4 p.m. for a special Labor Day public skating session. A holiday rate of only $3 per person will be offered, and includes admission and skate rental. There are no spectator fees for parents and/or guardians wishing to take advantage of the spacious off-ice area that includes free Wi-Fi and flat screen televisions. Bring your family and friends and join the fun at the coolest place in town.
