It happens every year at the end of December, dividing our commonwealth, causing feuds between friends and rifts among families. It famously caused a fist fight between two Georgetown dialysis patients in 2012. Of course I’m talking about the UK vs UofL basketball game. The lines will be drawn in the bluegrass on Saturday, December 27th at 1pm. To help you get ready for the showdown, Owensboro Living asked around town to find the best places to watch the game.
O.C.C. Sports Bar – Downtown, the Convention Center has a full day of activities planned at the OCC Sports Bar from 11-5pm, including Corn Hole, free throw competitions, door prizes, and food and drink specials. Kentucky Corner will be on hand selling apparel for anyone who needs new gear for the game. Both the UK and UofL alumni associations will be set up at the event too. Click here to learn more.
B-Dubs – With 10 big screens and 30 TVs with full audio, Buffalo Wild Wings has got you covered for any sporting event. But General Manager Jared Seaton says the UK/UofL game is one of the busiest days of the year. “We expect a full house,” Seaton said. “We open at 11 that day and people will be coming as soon as we open to get a seat. By noon we’ll be full.”
Maloney’s – Out on 54, Maloney’s Pizza is also a great place to watch this game, or any other game for that matter. They have 30 TV screens between the bar area and a separate family dining room. Their $6.99 lunch specials will be available during the game.
Beef’s – Beef O’Brady’s is another popular place on 54 to watch sports. General Manager Stacy Bratcher says, “We always have a big crowd for that game and we can’t wait!”
Also, keep in mind that Don and Daisy’s and Danhauer’s have a constant supply of the latest UK and UofL t-shirts and accessories.
