Bee Bop’s might be known for burgers and fries, but they’re rolling out the full home-cooking spread on Christmas day.
“My husband and I decided to have a big Christmas dinner for anyone who is alone on Christmas or can’t afford a Christmas dinner,” says Bee Bop’s owner Samantha Ellison. Samantha says Bee Bop’s will be serving the normal Christmas fare from 12-4pm Christmas day. “We’re hoping for a big turn out, so if we run out, then I guess we’ll serve burgers and fries. But no one will leave here hungry, I can tell you that!”
The idea came about because the Ellison’s are from out of town and don’t have family here, except for the Bee Bop’s family. So they basically decided to make their own Christmas “family” memory. “We do see a lot of customers here who homeless or don’t have family,” Samantha explained. Ellison also said they try to hire people from the shelters who need a second chance.
Donations will be accepted, which will be donated to Friends of Sinners.
Now that word has gotten out, Bee Bop’s has received several phone calls from people offering to help. “It’s really neat that so many people are coming together for this,” Samantha said.
So if you – or any of your friends, neighbors, or co-workers – might be alone on Christmas Day, consider this an invitation to the Bee Bop’s family Christmas dinner.
