Admittedly, Sunday night’s snowfall came way earlier than expected in the season, but for future reference, did you know Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department offers Snow Day Camp? Did you know Snow Day Camp and their Holiday Camp are accredited by the American Camp Association?
Children must be pre-registered for Snow Day Camp, but the deadline for registration has been extended till Friday, December 5!
Here’s how Snow Day Camp works: whenever there is a snow day, you can drop your child off at the Owensboro Parks Administrative Office at 1530 McJohnson Avenue (across from Chautauqua Park by Combest Pool). Fee is $70 per child, for five snow days, but a $14 per day refund will be issued if fewer than five days are missed in the child’s district.
Snow Day Camp is for ages 5-13 and runs from 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. (6:40 a.m. early room – $2 per day). Campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day. The whole day is scheduled out like any day camp; the day starts with breakfast, then free time with board games, crafts, or reading books. They also play games in the gym and watch a movie in the afternoon.
Holiday Camp is held during Christmas break: December 22, 23, 26, 29, 30, 31 and January 2. Fee is also $70/child for whole week or $55 for three days.
