The Scrub Shoppe Sends Donations to Flood Victims

Giving back has always been part of the plan for The Scrub Shoppe, owner Kandi Stephens says. “My personal mission is always to use The Scrub Shoppe to glorify God. I see it as giving back to the One who gives to me.”

So when Stephens discovered an opportunity to help flood victims in Louisiana, she wanted to do all she could. Stephens’ daughter, Lauren, lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is involved in a support group called Sarah’s Laughter, which posted about their need for scrubs. Several of Lauren’s friends lost almost everything in their homes.

“I said to myself, I can do this, so I did,” Stephens said.

The Scrub Shoppe immediately drop-shipped 40 brand new sets of scrubs to Lauren, who distributed them accordingly. Kandi then reached out to her Scrub Shoppe customers on their Facebook page and collected over 100 more pieces.

According to the founder of Sarah’s Laughter, the clothes were very appreciated. Several women were able to get the exact color and size for their workplaces.

After seven years in business, The Scrub Shoppe, located at 4760 Frederica Street, has expanded their storefront to include medical apparel and corporate dress attire for the non-scrub employee, a full line of medical accessories, embroidery services, and vinyl lettering. The company was named 2016 Small Business of the Year (5-10 employees) by the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce.

Find them on Facebook or call 270-683-333 for more information.
