The City of Owensboro released two statements this week that may be of interest to you, especially if you hear loud noises in your neighborhood or see construction at railroad tracks.
Pyrotechnics Used to Control Blackbirds
In the interest of human health and safety, a pyrotechnic event, which is part of the City of Owensboro’s blackbird control program, will take place on Monday, March 7, 2016, in the area from Booth Avenue to Griffith Avenue and from Frederica Street to Lewis Lane in the late afternoon.
A wildlife specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s APHIS Wildlife Services will set off pyrotechnics each evening. Residents in the area should expect the loud noises and flashing lights from the controlled pyrotechnics during that time.
