Puzzle Pieces, the same organization that brought us the “Color Blast 5K,” is hosting another fun event for the entire community: the “Downtown Fall Fest”, which will take place Saturday, November 8th from 10am-2pm at Mitch McConnell Plaza.
The event is hosted by Puzzle Pieces and the City of Owensboro, which is proving to be a great partnership. For Puzzle Pieces, the Downtown Fall Fest is a chance to bring their mission of raising awareness for disabilities to a broader audience, and for the city it’s a chance to have another quality event for the whole community downtown.
“People love Reid’s and Trunnell’s this time of year, and so many churches and schools have fall fests. We thought this would be a good way to make our ‘Walk for All’ a bigger event and move it downtown,” explained Puzzle Pieces Director Amanda Owen.
This will be the fourth year for Puzzle Pieces’ Walk for All event. The three previous walks have been held at Legion Park. This year it will be the highlight event at the Downtown Fall Fest. Starting at 1:30, anyone who would like to participate will walk one lap around downtown Owensboro in celebration of all our abilities. Individuals and teams are encouraged to walk “in honor of” or “in memory of” someone with special needs and take pledges and donations for Puzzle Pieces. All participating teams will be announced on stage, have their names on the website, and be entered for door prize drawings.
