Owensboro Parks and Recreation taking Adult Kickball League Registrations

Fall Coed Volleyball League
The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for the 2015 Fall Coed Volleyball League.

Divisions are offered for recreational and intermediate level players. Teams will need to consist of six players (four men and two women). League nights will be Mondays and/or Tuesdays for Recreational Division, and Thursdays for Intermediate Division. All games will take place at the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Administrative Center gymnasium, located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue.

Deadline to register is September 25. League play is scheduled to begin the week of October 5. The entry fee per team is $120 and is due at time of registration. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.owensboroparks.org.

Edge Ice Center offering weSKATE Learn-to-Skate Classes
The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center is now accepting registrations for its next session of the weSKATE Learn to Skate Program. The weSKATE program follows the lesson format created by the Ice Skating Institute of America (ISI), the nation’s largest recreational ice skating organization.

Classes are available for all ages and abilities, from tots to adults and are held once a week on Saturday mornings at various times beginning September 12. Class times are available at www.owensboroparks.org. Participants may choose the day and time most convenient for them.

Class dates are September 12 – October 3. The registration deadline is September 4.
Class fees are $20 per person, and include one hour of ice time per week for 4 weeks (30 minutes of instruction plus 30 minutes of practice ice), and skate rental.

Register in person at the Edge Ice Center, or by calling the Edge Ice Center at 270-687-8720 during business hours Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m.

Junior Tae Kwon Do Lessons
Maximize your child’s self-confidence and motor skills by signing him/her up for Owensboro Parks and Recreation Fall Jr. Tae Kwon Do Lessons.

Participants will learn the basics of the ancient art of Tae Kwon Do while also improving their mind and body. The program offers a great opportunity for youth to improve their coordination and motor skills in an energetic, fun atmosphere and also help them develop flexibility, stamina, strength, energy, self-confidence, and balance.

All classes will meet at the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Administrative Center gymnasium, located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue. Classes are available for youth ages 5 through 8 and also ages 9 through 12.

Cost per participant is $25 and includes a t-shirt. The class will meet on Saturday mornings starting October 17 through November 21; registration deadline is October 9. 5-8 year old class will be offered at 8-8:45 a.m. or at 9-9:45 a.m. The 9-12 year old class will take place from 10-10:45 a.m.
