Owensboro Health’s Chief Medical Information Officer Dr. David Danhauer has been selected to chair the Physician Committee of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
As the head of this committee, which has national reach and influence, Dr. Danhauer will help promote the improvement of healthcare through the use of information technology. His term runs for one year, beginning July 1, 2016.
Owensboro Health Chief Information Officer Mike Russo said Dr. Danhauer’s selection is not only a testament to Dr. Danhauer’s ability and expertise, but also to the work he oversees.
“For Owensboro’s native son Dr. Danhauer to be appointed to the chair of the HIMSS Physician Committee is a great testament to him and the strides that Owensboro Health has made in usage of the electronic health records,” Russo said. “He knows electronic health records can be better and is working to get it there. My reaction is both Owensboro and Owensboro Health owe Dr. Danhauer accolades.”
Dr. Danhauer said he is looking forward to this new role and hopes to use it to make a positive impact, both locally and nationally.
“I am quite proud and honored to be selected,” Dr. Danhauer said. “This position allows a voice for providers in the trenches doing the hard work of quality patient care.”
